The hike started at 9:00 at the foot of the stairs that lead to the Doi Kham temple. Ten hikers and two dogs walked up the steps and then enjoyed the view for a moment. The air quality today was a bit better than earlier in the week, but the view was still not so clear. We stayed a short time in the temple area and then continued the hike behind the big Buddha statue.
The first 5 km took us through forest on the mountain, which mostly was burned. But even in the black ashes we can already see new plants starting to grow. It will be interesting to get back here when the first rains are coming, to see how quick everything gets green again.
We then descended the mountain and reached a road which took us through a nice area with here and there a resort or some village houses. Towards the end of the hike we reached the Baan Suan coffee shop, where we had coffee and some food. The entire hike (including lunch break) took about 4 hours and we walked about 10 km.
