The hike up the middle path went just as planned, costing 100 baht each for the song tao round trip: up to Pha Ngeup and down from the temple to the arboretum. There were 6 of us, 3 from France who were often just a bit behind to take pictures, but were enthusiastic hikers. We saw lots of mushrooms, even a few kinds we hadn’t seen last week, so over 20 varieties all together. Though we had expected a leisurely hike, we were spurred on by the good weather, leafy cover with occasional sunlight through the trees and a couple light showers which were hardly noticeable. After consultation, we did not go to the 5-way junction, but took the short cut and arrived at the temple just 3 1/4 hr. after starting, so 3 of us had lunch at the temple area and the 3 Frenchmen walked up the temple steps. An enjoyable hike and one worth repeating. A photo of 5 of the group, minus the leader, is attached.
