Waterfall Cafe Loop
Hidden away in the area behind Doi Kham Temple is a nice new coffee shop called the “Waterfall Cafe” or “Valley Cafe”. This will be the starting point of our hike, but we will meet at another place because if you come for the first time the coffee shop is a bit difficult to find.
From the coffee shop we will follow a track that leads up the mountain. If you would keep following this track all the way up it would take you near Doi Pui. That track ends at the road between Buping Palace and Ban Doi Pui. For today this is a bit too far, so about halfway up we will turn left and then come down again via another ridge. The last half hour of the hike will be along a road to get back to the starting point, but there is almost no traffic there so it will still be a quiet nice walk. We will end the hike at the coffee shop where we can sit together and enjoy a cup.
Total distance will be about 10 km. Lowest point (at start) is 360 meter, highest point is 737 meter.
These pictures show a map of the hike.
If you want to join
Just turn up at the meeting place on the day. There is no need to let us know you are coming.
We will meet near the steps that lead up to the Doi Kham temple. You first take the road that leads from the Canal Road to the Doi Kham Temple (this leads along the Ratchapruek area). At the point where you see the turn off (for cars) to the Doi Kham temple is a telephone box. That’s where we meet. It’s just 100 meters before the stairs that lead to the temple.
We meet here at 8 AM and then we will together drive the last few kilometers to the coffee shop where the hike starts.
No costs, but consider taking some money for a nice cup of coffee at the end of the hike.
Bring around 2 liters of water or more, some kind of lunch or snacks, good footwear, hat, walking stick, insect repellant, sunblock, etc.
