As planned we met at 8 AM near the stairs of the Doi Kham temple and then we proceeded to the Waterfall Cafe where the hike started at 8:15 with nine persons and two dogs.
The first part of the hike took us up along a rough track until we reached the point where we had to cross a little stream. We followed this stream until we reached the “Crying Dog Waterfall”. From there the track kept going up with sometimes beautiful views towards the Doi Kham temple and Chiang Mai.
We walked at an easy pace, stopping many times to enjoy plants and other natural wonders, and we reached the highest point of our hike around 10:30.
Here we turned to another ridge which took us all the way down again with occasional views to the valley south-west of this ridge.
Around 12:00 o’clock we reached the road on a spot with some seats where we could rest and eat some snacks. This was where one hiker became a biker. After a short rest we continued along the road back to the Waterfall Cafe which we reached just before 1 PM, just at the moment when it started to rain. Here we enjoyed our well deserved cup of coffee.
We had hiked 4 hours 45 minutes and covered a total distance of 10.5 km. Lowest point was 360 meters, highest point 737 meters. Total elevation gain and loss was 477 meter.
Thanks to all for a very pleasant Sunday morning hike.
Here are a some photos of the hike.
