Four ladies, three men and three dogs showed up for today’s hike. We met as planned at 8 AM at the fuel station near Doi Saket and after a ride of about 37 km we arrived at the starting point of the hike on road 1252. Around 9 AM we started walking. It was a cloudy day, and when we started at an elevation of 1100 meters we soon saw clouds in the valley below us. The hike followed a ridge and for the first two hours we kept going uphill all the time. One side of the ridge was covered in clouds while on the other side we had good views on the forest below us. By 11 AM we had covered a distance of about 3.5 km and we were now at an elevation of 1622 meter. The cloud cover was changing all the time and at some moments we had excellent views towards Doi Saket and Chiang Mai. We had a short break here to eat some snacks and at the same time to remove a few of the leeches from our legs and dogs. Then we turned around and we started the same route downhill. In the cool weather up here it was excellent day for hiking. We took photo’s of the landscapes, the flowers and a stick insect. By 1 PM we arrived back at the cars. It is a beautiful hiking area and we should hike here more often. Here are a few of the photos we took today. Please click on a photo to see a larger version.
