Seven of us gathered at the meeting place on this rainy Sunday morning. Because it was raining the whole night, we decided to have a different hike than the one announced as the Mae-Sa Loop Hike would have been too difficult and potentially dangerous. We were driving together to Huay Tung Tao and parked our cars and motorbikes on the north-eastern side of the lake, where we saw a group of local people looking for fish in the rice-fields ( see picture above) .
As it started again raining heavily at that time ,one hiker decided not to join, so we were 6 hikers passing the HTT National Park Checkpoint , walking. up the dirt road and turning towards the Menai Valley. We then walked along the ridge above the Menai Valley, helped each other to cross many quite strong water streams , some of us even had to go down on the knees to crawl across some fallen trees.
This was a fit and small group of hikers with only a break for lunch. We saw quite a number of small and mostly obviously wet animals along our way. A group of four arrived after 6 hours 15 minutes and two hikers after 6 hours 30 minutes . A wonderful hike for a small group of hikers – thanks to all of you for joining !
