Sunday 18 th August 16 humans and 3 dogs set out at 07.40 sharp along the eastern side of the reservoir. After a leisurely stroll through the forest man and beast arrived 9’ish at Huay Tung Tao. This being considered too early to eat, the group decided on a side trip to the Dtaat Mook waterfall to work up an appetite.
Downed branches and banana trees were evidence of the rainy season, but the trail was clear enough to make for pleasant walking conditions. When it started to rain at 10.55 we were very impressed with Peter’s forecast of a storm at 11.00. Fortunately it stopped raining at 10.56 and the weather stayed fair for us throughout.
Back at Huay Tung Tao most of the group elected to take lunch at a lakeside restaurant. No swimmers this trip.
The effects of lunch were walked off during the return stroll to 700 dam and all arrived back in good health and spirits. Overall a very relaxed and enjoyable day out.
Big game encountered during our safari amounted to one very attractive but agile snake and a weird-looking scorpion that posed obligingly for the camera.
