In spite of storm warnings 17 hikers turned up at 7am at the train station. There were plenty of cars available too and plenty of room in the 6 which drove to Khun Tan.
We were all at Yaw 1 and ready to begin the hike by 9am under cloudy skies, and as we climbed we passed through mist and a very light rain. It was really ideal weather for hiking, cool and shady. A few of the hikers kept ahead of the bunch moving like their tails were on fire. Most of us were looking for photo opportunities and found many both on the way up and one the way down: insects, a snake, a crab, and flowers.
We took a few breaks when we came to salas, spent some time at the cabin site at Yaw 3 where the view down into the valley was clearer than usual. We had our lunch break on top, and then on the way down the sun broke through at last, giving us some lovely views.
For some this would be classed as a jaunt rather than a hike, but for all it was a near perfect day.
