A slightly delayed start, with a couple of late arrivals and some confusion as to one hiker’s whereabouts, but 18 hikers (including a couple of newbies and some welcome-back ‘oldies’) finally set off from near the scout camp around 08.15, crossing the stream a couple of times on the way to the first short stop at Chiang Khian waterfall after about 30 mins.
Then up a series of steep sections, with occasional, more-level respite. Lovely cloud cover and cooling breezes for another hour up to the orchard area, with faster hikers waiting patiently for the slower ones at each level section or possible junction.
Down again to porcupine falls and a short snack stop before the final gentle downhill back to the start, first in gathering gloom, then light rain, then increasingly heavy rain to wash off any remaining sweat.
Right at the end a few hikers decided to make their own detour and some left the meeting place before all returned, which meant a little confusion about final numbers. Hope everyone got back home or to the lunch spot fine! Total 7 km, up (and down) 400m, 3.5 hours.
(PS: The tougher Monday hike I mentioned to a couple of people today has been postponed to a later date. No glasses found in my car. Hat to be returned soon.)
