140216 Trip report 3 Waterfalls hike

Apparently 21 hikers were looking for an easy hike, as that was the number who showed up. We left the arboretum shortly after 8am and walked up the road to the seismic center and turned in next to the entrance to follow the small roads up to the dirt path leading to Chang Khien waterfall. All was done in a leisurely manner, and Pam made sure we didn’t get lost. Because the waterfall area was so beautiful and cool we stayed there longer than planned and enjoyed snacks or began eating lunch.

We crossed over the stream to continue on up, and had a couple turns at intersections before coming down to the road. Here we are at one of the intersections:

Pam found several very small insects along the way, ones she hadn’t seen before, so she had to get pictures of them.

Shortly after crossing the road we arrived at Pha Ngerp, stopped briefly to visit and eat some more, and then continued on to Wang Bua Baan, where some of us were captivated by a very large vine. Here is how it became so twisted.

And so we continued on back to the arboretum and ended out nice easy hike. Thanks to all the nice people who made it a fun hike!
