140601_Trip Report Pilgrim’s Trail

Originally the plan was to do the Roller Coaster Ridge Hike but because of the unfavorable weather conditions  the hike was cancelled. Only 3 willing hikers were showing up at the meeting point at Central Festival –Road 118 . We waited  some time for potentially delayed additional hikers, but we soon realized that we will have a small but highly motivated group of three who democratically decided to have a shot at the Pilgrim’s trail

We were driving to the Starting point and hiked up to Wat Pallad ,

where a gang of bored dogs were greeting us in a not too amicable way, but after some patting and playing, we were invited to stay for a 10-minute break.

Afterwards we continued to walk up to Doi Suthep, where we stopped for a coffee break. Total time to Doi Suthep: 2 hours 10 minutes .

We originally planned to go back on the same trail we were taking in the morning , but as it was quite slippery, we decided to take a Songtao to Wat Pallad . As the taxi driver obviously prepared for a potential Formula 1 testing session, we were happy to get out . On the way from Wat Pallad down to the Starting point , we discovered plenty of insects and we ended up with taking pictures most of the time . Therefore it was taking us 3 hours 45 minutes to descend .

Small group, but good fun !!
