140803_Trip Report_ 5 Ways Junction Hike

Before the start of our hike at 8:35 AM, 25 people were meeting at the  Arboretum car park .  First we walked up the Huay Kaew Waterfall . Once there we were taking the group picture with the view of Chiang Mai City.

Then we  followed the stairs up to Wang Bua Baan Waterfall where we stopped for a short break.

Afterwards we continued to walk uphill for  around 200 meters to the street,

crossed the street and started to follow the Nature Trail on the other side. From now on to the 5 ways-Junction the trail is steeply rising.

5 of us had some problems with the steep path and stayed with the hike leader behind while the rest of the group together with Anders, Janet and Richard was continuing to walk up to the Junction. Around 1.5 km below the Junction, the hike leader was able to find a short cut for the slower break-away group, which would enable the rest of the group  to join them later on their way from the 5 Ways Junction to Doi Suthep Temple. Dean and Pam then rushed up to rejoin with the others at the Junction who had to wait for quite a long time and we instantly continued to hike towards Doi Suthep Temple , rejoining with the splitter group. Before we arrived at Doi Suthep Temple , one hiker decided to walk back the same way instead of taking a Songtao back to the Arboretum with the rest of us. We also spotted a ” white -hair” caterpillar.

Some of us were taking a taxi down to  the city and the rest went for drinks and food at a restaurant at the car park of Doi Suthep Temple. Thanks to Anders, Dean, Janet and Richard to help taking care of the group !!
