23 eager hikers met up this Sunday morning. We car pooled up to the start point, the parking lot below Doi Suthep Temple.
The day was perfect for a hike. No rain and the sun was hidden in the clouds.
My only doubt was how to keep the group together. An easy hike, but many junctions and “hidden trails”. Very easy to get lost in the jungle.
But everything went on smoothly. A lay back Sunday stroll in the mountains. Even our own “rude boy “ managed to stay with the group.
The first section of the hike was to walk on the concrete road up to the Christian meditation center.
Here we found our first hidden trail, a trail downhill south. We continued on small trails, and soon we reached the mountain bike trail from the Queen palace. Fantastic view south!!
We hiked downhill, and found our next secret trail, the trail up to Chiang Mai University Observatory. Here we had a break, and refueled energy.
Now came the big challenge for the day. Gain altitude of 200 m in 1 km. But we took it easy, and everyone made it with a big smile.
Up here we had an easy hike back home. We passed the second Christian meditation center. Mr. S made a small exploration in the area, and showed the group a wonderful viewpoint, with spectacular views over Chiang Mai.
Back to the start point, we found a new restaurant. Clean, good food and perfect service.
Thanks all for a nice day in the mountain!
