Trip report ”Three Waterfalls Hike” 1 February.
This Sunday morning, 37 eager hiker’s started their adventure at Wat Pa Thanmachat, a temple near the Samueang Rd. The plan for the day was to hike in the south hills of Doi Suthep Nationalpark and visit 3 spectacular waterfalls.
Our hike started in good order and after an easy walk on a good trail along a dry riverbed, we reached our first goal, Huai Mae Tuet waterfall.
After a short break we started to climb up on the cliff to bypass the waterfall area. A narrow and a bit dangerous trail, but it was the only way for us to continue up to the next waterfall. A bit scary, but the group manages to pass the area without any incidents.
The weather was perfect. Cloudy sky and the trails were in shady terrain.
After the cliff we hiked up on a steep ridge. We continued through the forest and after had done some river crossings we reached our lunch goal, Sri Sangwan Waterfall. Lunch and some swimming here. The water was so cooold.
After a well needed relaxing time, we started to hike down to the third waterfall, Tat Krok waterfall.
Again some river crossings before the falls
The waterfall, or shall we say multiple waterfalls, are in the Huai Pu Kham river. It is a combination of a narrow river with waterfalls, basins and gorges for about 2 km. At one of the gorges we rested and did some swimming again. This time was the water temperatures pleasant, so a large group of hikers took the opportunity relax in the mountain water. It was a bit difficult to convince them to move on..
Now we were at the end of the hike, and after 30 minutes we reach the beautiful resort Wareepana.
Deaun had pre ordered lunch for us here.
We had a large group this Sunday, and many options to get lost, but we managed to keep the group together. Many thanks to Deuan, Kim and Peter.
