On Sunday morning, January 22nd, 14 hikers arrived on time at the meeting point. 12 of us were taking the Songtao and 2 hikers were taking their motorbikes up to our starting point.
We arrived at around 8:00 AM at the starting point and commenced our hike among perfect, cool temperatures.
We hiked slowly uphill to the peak of Doi Pui, where we were taking a group picture before we walked over to the Sala.
At the Sala we met 2 Thai workers who were building a standing desk and benches for an upcoming Grand Opening of a Nature Protection Meeting.
After a short break, we started our steep descent to Kun Chang Kien village, where we arrived around 10:00 AM.
We were meeting one more hiker at the village who was walking up from the Arboretum in the morning . After a coffee break, 15 people walked towards the 5 way Junction. After around 15 minutes , we met another 5 hikers ( old friends/regular Chiang Mai Hiking Group hikers) , who decided to do a slightly different hike on Sunday.
At around 11:30 AM ,we arrived at the 5 Way Junction , where we met another 3 hikers – who had been a bit late for the morning meeting time- and had another short break.
Afterwards we walked in two groups ( fast / unhurried) to the restaurant at the Doi Suthep parking lot where we rejoined for lunch and were joined by the 5 hikers we met earlier.
Afterwards we went back by Songtao to the Arboretum Car Park
Total time of the hike : 5 hours 40 Minutes.
