The hikers which decided to join the shorter hike started at around 8:35 AM, walking past the garden in Baan Doi Pui and cautiously bypassing a group of mourners. Afterwards we continued to walk on mostly flat or slightly rising terrain amongst cold and fresh air.
Although the temperatures were comfortable, we had to bear the disadvantage of being attacked by leeches. After around 1 1/2 hours and a short snack-and water break , we started to walk steep uphill towards the Buddha Footprint.
Once we arrived there, we decided to stop for a longer break, but we were interrupted by a rain shower and decided therefore to continue our hike.
We walked for around 200 meters before we turned around, walked along a valley and were coming back to the trail which we had taken before to come up to the Buddha Footprint. Because of the meanwhile heavy rain, many termites were coming out and we stopped to look at them , but could not take any pictures because of the rain. The arrival of the termites was followed by the arrival of lizards, frogs and other animals which obviously appreciated the possibility for an unforeseen meal.
We then met a small group of four mountain bikers.
After 3 hours and 45 minutes, we finished our hike and went to a Kao Soi Restaurant at Baan Doi Pui.
Afterwards we went back to the car park where we discovered that one of our cars had a flat tire . After some initial not so effective attempts to change the tire, “Mr. Scott” came to help mastering the situation with striking success.
