32 hikers gathered at CenFes/along the route to the trailhead, and all decided on the longer, less steep option (see hike description). With a wide range of speeds and a similar range of leaders, we split into smaller groups, reformed and split again, so it’s rather difficult to tell a cohesive story, but all went pretty smoothly according to plan, despite the usual minor glitches, in about the estimated timeframe. Pictures are worth 1,000 words …
The day was quite hazy but local views were good and temperatures were cooler at the higher elevations, with occasional welcome breezes. This will be a good hike to repeat when the sky is clearer.
A reminder to regular CM hikers: if you are thinking of bringing newbie friends on a group hike, make sure that they read the hike description/know what to expect, and consider taking them out for a shorter ‘test’ hike before coming on our longer ones.
Thanks to the whole team of explorers, leaders, drivers and photographers. Oh, and hikers! Any more photos?
