We started with 17 hikers (some newbies) but after 20 mins 2 new hikers turned back, so we were only 15 for most of the hike.
After 2.5 hours of uphill struggle through the humid air, we reached the Lychee Farm area, where we had a longer break, and many (but not all) were allowed to buy fruit.
Then we crossed to the five way junction, where some had a snack/early lunch, and on to Wat Doi Suthep. After the hike some hikers enjoyed second lunch/refreshments in our favorite greasy spoon, where one hiker had her bag of lychees ‘stolen’. (Hope it’s been returned by now.) Time for the slower Group 5:05; the faster group maybe 25 mins less? Distance 12 km. We were very lucky with the weather – the rain waited until we made it to the restaurant.
PS: Mr M was relieved to find his sunglasses and enjoyed his extra 3.6 km walk.
