16/09/04_ San Kamphaeng “Lake district” hike

View over the lake

View over the lake

This Sunday we will meet outside The Promenada Shopping Mall, 07.20 am, for departure at 07.30 to the Hua Lan Reservoir in San Kamphaeng district. We carpool for a ride of about 30 minutes. We park our vehicles at the foot of the reservoir. From here we will hike up to the reservoir on a small village road for 10 Minutes. At the lake we will start to hike up on the ridge to the viewpoint “Mon Phachi” (altitude 648 M).This will take about 1 hour. In some area the trail is not so clear, because this area is a bit like “rocky mountain”. But anyway, easy to hike. Just use good footwear. At the viewpoint we will have (if it is a clear day), some fantastic views: eastwards the lake, westwards the San Kamphaeng Valley, and Doi Suthep in the distance. From here we will follow the ride down to the lake area and the cars. Total time is about 4 hours.

Afterwards several of us propose to eat, drink and relax in the baths at the San Khamphaeng Hot Springs.

Leader: Anders

If you want to join, make sure you have read the general advice on this website as well as the particular details in this post. If you still think the hike is for you, then just turn up at the meeting place on the day and on time. No need to inform us you are coming. But we cannot accommodate groups. Places are almost always available for passengers in cars, although they cannot be absolutely guaranteed, and you may want to check with the driver whether they intend to go to the Hot Springs afterwards or not. If you are a passenger, please give your driver THB 100 as a contribution for fuel.

As usual at this time of year, if there is heavy rain the hike might be cancelled. If it is going to be cancelled, we will post a warning here by 06:30 on Sunday morning.
