17/03/12 _Ban Pha Nok Kok loop

This post corrects an earlier one which had the wrong date and post-hike details. Contrary to the earlier post, the hike will take place on the Sunday, as usual. The hike is about 5 hours and after the hike we will be going to a nice restaurant not far from the starting point.

We will be hiking mainly along farmers trails through agricultural land with some lovely views, seasonal conditions permitting.  The hike is at a relatively high altitude, starting at 1000m rising to about 1500m (a total altitude gain of around 700m) and a total distance of about 13km.  Although there is a fair amount of shade hats and sunblock are a must and do consider additional fluids too.

Hike leader: Tom

Meeting Place:
We will meet at 07.30 am for an 07.40 start, in front of the 700-year stadium (see map), just beside the 121 irrigation canal road (not inside the stadium), then carpool to the hike start point.

If you’re thinking of joining…

Please carefully read the general advice and warnings on this website as well as this specific hike description. If you still think the hike is for you, just turn up at the meeting-place on time: there is no need to tell us you are coming. Lifts in the cars of other hikers are usually available but cannot be guaranteed. If getting a lift, please have a mutual understanding with your driver about post-hike priorities (e.g. whether having a meal with the group) and where they can drop you on return to town. Please bring a change of shirt for in-car pleasantness on the return journey. And please contribute THB 100 per person towards the fuel etc.

Please bring :

  • at least 2 litres of water/rehydration drink
  • snacks
  • 100Bht for your driver if sharing their car.
  • sunhat, sunblock, rain protection.
  • energy, enthusiasm, and good humour.
  • spare fresh T-shirt, frock or tux you can change into at the end, especially if you are going to be traveling home with others in a car.

  1. Hello everybody, I am a tourist and I am staying in Trekker Camp hostel. I know your group by chance and I love hikking as well as talking with you guys so I really would love to join you. If anybody live near here, please help to give me a lift on Sunday morning :). Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

    • Hello Baotran284. If you didn’t get any offers of a lift to the 700-year stadium, you might be interested in the alternative hike (just posted), which meets slightly later and closer to town.
